KREBS, Joachim German

Krebs joachim

Joachim Krebs, *1952, ☨2013, was a composer and artist of sound art and media art. He lived and worked at Karlsruhe (Germany). He created electro-acoustic sound compositions for mulimedia performances, concertante and installative art works since the 1980s. His successes as a composer and sound space artist include the award of the Beethoven Prize and the fellowship at the Villa Massimo in Rome. At the end of the 1990s, he developed the procedure of sound microscopy, the so-called "EndoMicroSonoScopy". The process permits a virtual investigation of the interior molecular structure of sounds and noises, allowing the previously inaudible to be heard. From 1998 to 2013 Joachim Krebs and media artist Sabine Schäfer together formed the artist-couple <SA/JO>
